Found your pictures by chance... you've just completely made my day, and then some. Gorgeous.. great combination of creativity and sophistication. It's too bad styles like this are so rare among men!

Just lovely - you are very talented! :)

Exactly how vintage is that obviously vintage tailcoat?

anachronaut From: anachronaut Date: January 3rd, 2006 03:10 pm (UTC) (Link)
I made it.
One of the things I do is period tailoring.

Excellent, excellent! Great to know someone else is carrying on a most glorious tradition. The falls add alot of character and I am very impressed!

sharp attention to detailing. intriguing mix of old/classic meets futuristic. seeing the headgear as part of a fashion style completes the look. well done. look forward to more adaptations and spreads.

I'm telling ys,you need some of my collection for your next shoot(bill says I can't lend you the feeding tongs as they are pricy)..and I bet you get at lest 30 comments telling you how pretty you are ;-p

BTW the real reason for this comment is..that as I was cleaning the house I just found a old very DR Who "wanted" poster that a pal got from some convethion in the early 80s that he passed on to me..It's very rare apparently..I have a very good scanner and a very good printer..You want a copy? Its freaking hysterical I had totaly forgotten I had it..you are one of the very few I know of who might get a kick out of it that lives on this side of the pond...

I can't WAIT until I've saved enough to commission some of your wonderful BEAUTIFUL falls. But where did you buy your outfit? It's so... classy and stylish. More men should dress like that. D: More PEOPLE should dress like that!
anachronaut From: anachronaut Date: January 3rd, 2006 03:13 pm (UTC) (Link)
I do period tailoring... so technically i bought the materials for the coat from a UK company called hainsworth.
dunaerin From: dunaerin Date: January 3rd, 2006 03:17 pm (UTC) (Link)
And you're a tailor too? O_O I must ask, do you also do custom clothing, or just falls?
anachronaut From: anachronaut Date: January 3rd, 2006 03:28 pm (UTC) (Link)
I do.
But depending on what it is, it can be pricey.
dunaerin From: dunaerin Date: January 3rd, 2006 03:31 pm (UTC) (Link)
Well, I've been looking for something SOMEWHAT like what you have there, except for entirely in pinstripes, and tailored to fit a woman (considering I happen to be one) so it'll show off the waist a bit more. How much would something like that be?
anachronaut From: anachronaut Date: January 4th, 2006 12:11 am (UTC) (Link)
It depends. The one i'm wearing could cost someone over a thou$, but that's because it's mostly hand sewn and a complete period recreation down to the innards, with material from companies that do historially milled textiles.

Depending on detail and quality, it can go from anywhere in 500-1K's, for origional custom work.
anachronaut From: anachronaut Date: January 4th, 2006 12:12 am (UTC) (Link)
that's $500 not 500,000, which would be rather allot.
dunaerin From: dunaerin Date: January 4th, 2006 12:13 am (UTC) (Link)
Alright! Thanks then :D If I manage to scrounge enough, I'll be up for it.

Oh dear god the gloves... my brain is dribbling out my ear at the thought of you playing a villain in something written by Mark Gatiss.

Love the key. Is it old or new...?
I have also been meaning to ask you (I hope this isn't rude, forgive me), what is your nationality? You look a little bit like a friend of mine...

I was referred to you journal/sight cause some of the work i do is very simalar. I am essentially tryin to capure the same idea. and oh my god...very very VERY cool professional looking work by the way. I am awe struck.

i sis have a questions. I usaully have a string in the back the ties around a bun...then single falls in front. is there a way to basically...hook all the front ones up so i dont have to do them seperatly. anyway, below is some of my ideas..no wehre near as cool as yours. love the material too. I am about to start on a near set but going with solid colors...liek all black foam in the back..and 2 solid white stripes in the front. anwyay...thanks and if I dont hear form ya ..good
luck with all your endevors.

one more thing..where do you get those littel combs?

here is the front..and the front parts are seperate. any ideas on how to make basically the whoel fornt piece one piece?

Which little combs? it looks like you're already using weft clips.

Please clairify on what you're asking, I'm not sure what your falls look like dissasembled.
thesyztemof7 From: thesyztemof7 Date: January 20th, 2006 03:54 pm (UTC) (Link)
oh, your using weft clips and another comb of sorts...there is a picture in a past entry in your journal.

but actually, i dotn knwo why i didnt think of an idea before.

Get a manaquinn head..and asseble on that. again....your stuff is very cool.
anachronaut From: anachronaut Date: January 20th, 2006 04:03 pm (UTC) (Link)
